I am currently studying abnormal psychology for an exam tomorrow. I came across this little gem in my textbook (this chapter is about sexual disorders, and is first establishing what is sexually "normal" around the world):
The Sambia in Papua New Guinea believe semen is an essential substance for growth and development in young boys of the tribe. They also believe semen is not produced naturally; that is, the body is incapable of producing it spontaneously. Therefore, all young boys in the tribe, beginning at approximately age 7, become semen recipients by engaging exclusively in homosexual oral sex with teenage boys. Only oral sexual practices are permitted; masturbation is forbidden and totally absent. Early in adolescence the boys switch roles and become semen providers to younger boys. Heterosexual relations and even contact with the opposite sex are prohibited until the boys become teenagers. Late in adolescence, the boys are expected to marry and begin exclusive heterosexual activity. And they do, with no exceptions.Here's the book, which I have to say is probably my least-hated textbook ever. Except this one.
You're probably thinking, "I understand the idea of leaving isolated tribes alone to continue their age-old way of life, but WTF!" You're such an ethnocentric asshole sometimes.
I've come up with the perfect analog in Western culture to help put things in perspective: Santa Claus.
Remember when you were seven? You knew you had to be good or else Santa wouldn't give you that N64. If you're Jewish— first of all, that sucks— you still know what I'm talking about. Anyway, deep down, you didn't believe Santa would ever stiff you like that, but you didn't dare test him; or at least I didn't because honestly, I was kind of a pussy.
Well, that's exactly what it feels like for seven-year-old Sambia boys; they know they have to coax sticky hot loads of cum from that cock or they will never become a man. Really just a nice, nice tradition.
