4:20 in Cupertino?

Decided to see if there's anything new and/or interesting in the App store. As you can see in this screenshot, the clock icon (not sure what app it represents) next to the "Utilities" category is set to 4:20. Heehee!

Update: The 4:20 icon represents "Night Stand," a cool little (free) app for iPhone/iPod Touch that turns your iphone's screen into a slick-looking digital clock. Go to settings and you can make Night Stand disable your phone/pod's auto-lock, so it will glow all through the night. (Just make sure you are plugged in to a power source.) App Store Link (opens iTunes)

Also, I apologize for the generally shitty design and layout here, fixing 'er is high on my to-do list.

Good idea:

a bar named "funkytown." just tell the cab driver, "won't you take me to, funkytown?"

This ESPN "Classic Logo" looks awful familiar

So, I was watching some SportsCenter and at the end of a commercial the tshirt seen above was flashed on the screen, luring me to the ESPN shop. Although I am a tshirt aficionado, I have never been a fan of "ringer" tees, but something else about the shirt piqued my interest. Some modest photoshoppery later, you see what I mean.

Here's a link to the ESPN store, if you really like "their" logo on that shirt.

Japan's growing marijuana problem

Although I am by no means any sort of otaku, maybe one day I can be. Pinktentacle, among other sites, have opened my internet-crawling mind to the awesome and fascinating stuff coming out of Japan.

Blogs like Japanator, Japan Probe, and TOKYOMANGO make me realize just how uncool I would be if I lived in Japan. They, among others, are a great starting point for everyone unacquainted with Japanese popular culture.

Start here, a nice list over at pinktentacle, of 2008's top 60 words/phrases from Japan. A great launching point for a flurry of internet reading and self-education on cool Japanese shit.

That said, today on Japan Probe: it seems there is a "growing marijuana problem" amongst the nation's young people. (Take "growing" to mean both increased use and cultivation.) Or at least, the national media have painted a handful of recent marijuana-related cases as clear evidence of such a trend. It seems the Japanese powers that be have some of the same backwards, unfounded, downright ignorant attitudes and fears relating to marijuana that we here in TUSOA are dealing with.
